Your Mac could be the biggest issue, which seems to crash more often than PCs. Try deleting the 'temporary internet' files - do a disk cleanup and a defrag! Sounds like you computer could be the problem! Good Luck! I will definitely contact customer service, if I can't get it resolved soon. I am using a Mac, so that may be an issue. I was definitely patient.I waited probably 45 minutes before giving up and force quitting the application. I only had the one file open in Silhouette. If it keeps crashing you should call customer service tomorrow, they'll get you cutting again! Some of the Mac users over on the Sil forum /Silhouette_Plus/index/ said they were having crash issues, don't know if your running it on a Mac but that might be an issue too. Or you might have recieved a bad file, do you have any other large files to try and see if they crash too? I had a large file crash when I got too anxious and clicked and clicked too soon. Mine lagged alittle when I clicked on it the 2nd time to get each box selected individually. Be patient and wait for the program to finish after you click on the "ungroup selected shapes" button the 2nd time. Do you have any other files or tabs opened in Sil? Large files like these need to be the only one open. So I'm thinking a couple things might be wrong. I recently bought the advent calendar and just checked the background file to see if mine crashed, and it didn't. Thanks, in advance, for any advice/tips anyone can offer.
#Silhouette studio crashing software#
I just downloaded and am using the newest Silhouette software update. I've done Google searches to see if anyone else had this experience, and I have found lots of blog posts from people who have created the Advent Calendar, but no one mentions the crashing situation with the backgrounds. However, every time I try to divide the design into individual shapes, Silhouette crashes. I have been trying, for the past couple of days, to manipulate the "backgrounds" design so I can print those out. I wanted to start working on it now, so it would be finished in time for xmas 2012. I saw and loved the Advent Calendar, before I got my machine, then, after xmas, I found it online and purchased one.

I've played with the software and have felt fairly successful at learning how to manipulate images to fit my needs.

I got the Cameo for xmas and have used it, as time allows.
